Getting Started

Many businesses and organization recognize the potential for a web site, but really aren't sure just how to best utilize the Internet or even how to get started.  No problem!

We don't just build web sites.  We are internet marketing consultants.  A large part of our business is educating our clients on the best use of the Internet.  You know your business and we know the current design elements and  technologies available on the Internet.  Together we can develop a strategy and design a web site that will accomplish your goals.

Here are some preliminary questions and answers that will start you on the path to a successful web presence:

  1. How much does a web site cost?  There are three costs involved in web sites.

    1. The first is a domain name.  You may register your domain name for 1 - 10 years.  Internet standard rate is $35 per year with discounts for multiple years.  With some design packages we will buy your domain name for you as a bonus.

    2. Initial upfront Web Site development costs.  These range from $100 to thousands depending on your site and features.  Complete 3-page brochure sites start at $349.  A typical small business site with some nice features will run $500-$1000 and E-commerce packages, real estate and auto dealer sites start at $599 and go up depending on features.

    3. Hosting and maintenance.  Hosting is like leasing hard drive space and access for your web site so it can be accessed via the Internet.  Our standard managed hosting is $22.95 per month and includes, E-mail, tech support and basic site maintenance, which includes minor changes to existing content.  Advanced maintenance may be paid for on a monthly contract or on an as-needed basis. Advanced maintenance would include the addition of new pages and features, major content revision or site redesign.

  2. Do I need a Web site?

    1. Do you have a business or organization that is regional in scope?

    2. Would you like to save money on traditional expenses like, advertising, phone bills, postage, printing and staff phone time?

    3. Do you have products or services that someone in another town or state would buy?

    4. Do you need a better way to connect your employees or members?

    5. Do you need a more convenient way to explain your business or organization with all of your services or products?

    6. Do you have a variety of products and services but no good (convenient or inexpensive) way to tell people about them?

    7. Would like someone you have never met and have no real way to realistically market to call you and want to do business with you?

If you answered YES to some of these questions then a web site seems like a good investment for you.

  3. You will need a Domain name E.G. www.yourname.com.  Today you can register a .com/.net/.biz/.us/.org and other popular domain extensions. Some businesses register more then one, or register the various versions to make sure their competition doesn't take advantage of the other extensions.  Contact us and we can research your domain name choice to see if it is available.  If not we can help you find one that is.

  4. Do you want to sell anything online?  ___Yes    ___No   ___I'm not sure yet

  5. Do you have a lot of information to put on the web or just some basic business and contact info?

  6. Do you want to allow your web visitors to automatically sign up for free E-mail newsletters you can send out to market your site?

  7. Would your business or organization like to put a nice collection of photos online and be able to update them anytime you want?

  8. Would you like to be able to edit some of you own content at will?

  9. Concerning web site design and look; do your tastes run to the straightforward business-like design approach, the reach-out-and-grab-them approach or the hi-tech approach?

  10. Have you looked at some web sites for businesses or organizations like yours?

  11. Do you have a web site design in mind?

  12. Do you want your web visitors to be able to interact with you by filling out forms to send information back, buying things, taking polls, asking questions, etc.?

  13. How much can you realistically budget for the project?

  14. Would you like to have your web site online in the next 30 days?
